On September 7th, Apple released the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Many new changes were made to the iPhone, but the one that everyone has been talking about is the decision to eliminate the headphone jack and introduce wireless earphones.
So here they are, Apple's wireless earphones, AirPods:
They are quite similar in terms of shape and size to Apple's existing earphones, except the obvious lack of wire. This should allow the users of such earphones to feel more free as there will be no wire getting in the way of their movement and not have to experience the hassle of tangled earphone wire.
However a couple of questions have been raised and there is already a quite heated debate online over whether these AirPods are a good idea.
A couple of problems that might arise include:
1. Connectivity issues. Apple claims to have a revolutionary way for the AirPods to connect to the iPhone 7. In reality, it is just an example of naked commercialism because AirPods do use bluetooth and do not require an iPhone 7. So the question still remains, will these earphones work well in all situations? How reliable is this connection?
2. Battery life. Because these airpods need a battery to function, there is concern over how long they can actually work for. People also don't like the fact that they will have to charge their earphones on top of all their other devices. Besides, the AirPods are charged through the Lightning port, so a user cannot charge his/her earphones when he/she is charging their phone.
3. Losing them. The AirPods' design makes it easy to fall out from the user's ears, especially when some physical activity is involved. Given that they are wireless and therefore smaller, it would also be easier to misplace them.
What do you think? Would you buy these AirPods?
